Trumpeter Takuya Kuroda takes you on a sonic journey to the crossroads of jazz, funk, post-bop, fusion, and hip hop. You can hear the influence of Miles Davis in his work – but no single version of Miles, whose career journeyed through multiple adventurous phases and drew from myriad sources. Originally from Kobe, Japan, Kuroda relocated to New York to study at The New School and then, quite naturally, became a part of the NYC jazz scene. He has released seven albums in the past dozen years, skillfully synthesizing his influences and delivering tunes that win new converts to the genre while offering long-time jazz-heads a fresh perspective.
