Isaiah J. Thompson is a jazz pianist, bandleader and composer from West Orange, New Jersey. He began studying at The Calderone School of Music at an early age, and soon after continued his studies with Jazz House Kids and NJPAC Jazz For Teens. He was later admitted to The Juilliard School at the age of 18, and graduated with his B.M. in 2019 and his M.M. in 2020.
Isaiah has performed with major artists, including Ron Carter, John Pizzarelli, Christian McBride, Steve Turre and Buster Williams. His recording debut was featured on Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Blue Engine Records’ Handful of Keys album with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis, and his debut album as a leader, Isaiah J. Thompson Plays the Music of Buddy Montgomery, was released in 2020.
He worked on the Golden Globe nominated soundtrack for Motherless Brooklyn, was named a Steinway Artist and has been awarded accolades including, the 2018 Lincoln Center Emerging Artist Award, and second place in the 2018 Thelonious Monk Competition. Isaiah believes that artistry is a direct channel into the mind and soul of an artist, and as such, feels that it is important to not lose sight of one’s individuality or that of others. As a performer, he tries to emit a feeling of joy and convey his personal experiences through the music, and through his everlasting love of jazz.
Zoe Obadia
Zoe Obadia is a saxophonist, composer, and teacher. She started playing the saxophone at age nine and became immersed in a community of great jazz musicians and educators based in New Jersey, her home state. In high school, she began playing locally with her peers and sitting in with mentors. She participated in the Essentially Ellington and Mingus festivals with the Jazz House Kids Big Band, and was a 2014 Young Arts Jazz Finalist and Downbeat High School Soloist Winner. She also performed at the Pittsfield Jazz Festival as the featured young artist and at the Caramoor Jazz Festival with her own group.
She began her studies at the Juilliard School in 2014 and has since performed in New York City as a leader and a sideperson with Mathis Picard's Sound Orchestra, Sebastian Rios' New Jazz Underground, the Evan Sherman Big Band, Micah Thomas duo, and more, at venues such as Dizzy’s, Smalls, Mezzrow, Birdland, and Jazz at Lincoln Center. She has also had the opportunity to play with Wynton Marsalis, the Mingus Big Band, Christian McBride, Antonio Hart, Dave Stryker, Diane Schuur, Bill Charlap, and others.
Felix Moseholm
Felix Moseholm is a New York-based jazz musician from Copenhagen, Denmark. He has studied at Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester and The Juilliard School in New York City with Ben Wolfe, Kenny Washington, Gerald Cannon, Ron Carter, and George Coleman. From a young age, Felix has worked with a variety of artists including Brad Mehldau, Alvin Queen, Rodney Green, Jorge Rossy, Alex Riel, Joe Farnsworth, and Frank Lacy, performing in the major clubs around New York and Copenhagen. Besides working as a sideman, Felix is also the leader of his own group, a composer, arranger and a teacher of music; all of which has brought him to many exciting places around the world.
Moseholm has been acknowledged for his skill as a bass player and particularly his quality of sound receiving multiple awards such as “The Horace Parlan Talent Award” along with much praise and support from his many teachers and mentors. Felix grew up playing the cello for about 10 years until he switched to the bass inspired originally by Oscar Pettiford, NHØP and his granduncle Erik Moseholm (bass player with Don Byas, Eric Dolphy, Oscar Pettiford…)
