FAT with Scott Murawski

Peter Newland founded the rock band FAT in 1968. They had major record deals on both the RCA and Atlantic labels. A Northeast favorite, FAT has played with The (original) Allman Brothers, Muddy Waters, Jethro Tull, Procol Harum, Cold Blood, Mountain, Freddie King, Sly and the Family Stone, Ten Years After, Alice Cooper, Doctor John, The Ramones, Grand Funk Railroad, Little Richard, Bonnie and Delaney, Johnny Winter, and Robin Trower.

FAT released their debut self-titled album produced by music industry legend Ed Germano (Eddie Jason) on RCA in 1970. The group went on to perform at Madison Square Garden, The Capital Theatre, and the Strawberry Fields Festival to name a few. In 1979 the band also formed an Indie label, Dream Merchant Records, and produced their second album, “Footloose.”

Working with producers Mick Ronson (David Bowie, Bob Dylan) and Murray Krugman (Blue Oyster Cult) FAT recorded their final album for Atlantic Records with producer Felix Pappalardi (Cream, Mountain) at Criteria Studios in Miami and were personally signed to the Atlantic label by record-industry legend, Ahmet Ertegun.

Appearing with FAT is 50 year Max Creek guitarist/singer/songwriter Scott Murawski, who has also logged stage time playing for Mike Gordon (Phish), in BK3 with Bill Kreutzmann (Grateful Dead, Dead & Co.) and Oteil Burbridge (Allman Brothers, Dead and Co.). He’s also a founding member and frontman of cult jam fusion band Depth Quartet.
